Sunday, 2 August 2026 (Day 0)

  • Arrival to Harare. Accommodation & Dinner in Harare.

Accommodation for the course is provided in Harare, a quiet 12-room vila located about 5 minutes from the city centre. All rooms are, private, en-suite and can be arranged with either a queen bed or twin beds, making the lodge suitable for both individual participants and couples. The atmosphere is calm and residential.

Guests have access to a a private lush garden and swimming pool, a shared dining room and living room, as well as a kitchen with limited use. Rooms include air conditioning/heating, flat-screen TV, room-darkening shades, ample storage, bed linens and daily housekeeping. The lodge offers free on-site parking and airport shuttle on request. Shops and restaurants are located nearby, making it a convenient and comfortable base during the course.

Key amenities include hot water and toiletries, laundry facilities (towels, bed linen, washer/dryer, ironing and ample storage), Wi-Fi, HDTV, air conditioning, heating and portable fans. There is a fully equipped kitchen (stove, oven, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, cooking basics, dishes), plus outdoor patio and BBQ area.

  • Wildlife immobilization: general aspects and principles (theory)

Tue, 4 August 2026 (Day 2)

  • Anesthesia and immobilization protocols (theory)

Wed, 5 August 2026 (Day 3)

  • Morning: Practical demonstration of equipment used for wildlife immobilization. Dart assembly and loading. Target shooting, range finding, and related activities

  • Afternoon: Diseases of wildlife (theory)

Thu, 6 August 2026 (Day 4)

  • Practical activities in the field (capture and sampling of herbivores in the field)

Fri, 7 August 2026 (Day 5)

  • Practical activities in the field (capture and sampling of herbivores in the field)

Sat, 8 August 2026 (Day 6)

  • Practical activities in the field (capture and sampling of carnivores in the field)

Sun, 9 August 2026 (Day 7)

  • Diseases of Nile crocodiles (practical workshop): physical restraint of live crocodiles, sedation, anesthesia, sample collection from live specimens, Euthanasia and post mortem examination techniques in crocodiles

  • Parasitological necropsy of wildlife

  • Course evaluation, examinations, certification and final remarks
