How to register

The registration form for the 2026 Summer School (23-31 July 2026) is available here. The registration will be closed as the maximum number of participants has been reached. Preferably, all participants should register before 15 April 2026.


Eligible participants

The summer school is open for all students in biomedical sciences, veterinary medicine, biology, ecology, anthropology. Basic parasitology knowledge is an advantage but not a must. Medium to advanced English language are a must.

The meeting point for the start of the summer school is in Tulcea, on Thu, 23 July between 16:00 and 18:00

What to bring

Expect hot weather during July in Danube Delta. Occasional rains might occur. Bring sun protection and mosquito repellent. Bring your own binoculars and photo camera. Each participant should bring his/her own sleeping mattress and light sleeping bag and tent. We recommend that two participants share one tent. Bring field clothes (light style) and swimming suits.

Credit/Debit cards can be used in local shops in Chilia Veche. However, having also cash for certain expense is also recommended. Participants will have the possibility to withdraw cash (RON) or exchange money in Tulcea.


Health issues

No specific vaccination is needed. Only bottled water should be used for drinking while in Chilia Veche. There is a pharmacy in Chilia Veche selling basic drugs. Bring your own drugs for special needs. There is no hospital in Chilia Veche. However, emergency services are available from Tulcea by calling 112.

Fees

There are two types of fees:

  • for students of the organizing consortium (USAMV Cluj-Napoca, UMF Cluj-Napoca, CULS Prague, Masaryk University Brno, VFU Brno, Charles University Prague): 430 EUR
  • for all other students: 585 EUR

For confirmation of the participation, the registered person should pay 50% of the participation fee until 15th May 2026. Each registered participant will receive an email for the payment details.


What the fee covers:

  • transportation from Tulcea to Chilia Veche and back (public boat)
  • accommodation in Chilia Veche (in your own tents)
  • breakfast and dinners in Chilia Veche
  • local transportation in Chilia Veche (4WD cars, boats)
  • access fees, research permits
  • practical activities in the field
  • laboratory materials
  • boat trip for wildlife & landscape watching


The fees do NOT cover:

  • lunches
  • drinks
  • medical insurance
  • transportation to and from Tulcea
