Zoonotic Risk Communication in Companion Animals | Vetoquinol Webinar

On 10 September 2026, our Director, Prof. Andrei D. Mihalca, delivered an online webinar for Vetoquinol entitled "Role of the vet in communicating and managing the zoonotic risk from pets."

The presentation focused on the increasingly important role of veterinarians in helping pet owners understand and manage zoonotic risks associated with companion animals.

Prof. Mihalca discussed how veterinarians can translate complex information on parasites and other zoonotic agents into clear, practical recommendations for pet owners, while avoiding unnecessary alarm and maintaining a balanced, evidence-based approach to risk communication.

The webinar also addressed the connection between prevention, diagnosis, owner education and responsible pet care, highlighting the veterinarian's position at the interface between animal health, public health and One Health.

The session was delivered online to an international veterinary audience and formed part of Vetoquinol's professional educational activities for companion-animal practitioners.
