Veterinary Research and Wildlife Conservation | Conservation Carpathia, Brașov

Our Director, Prof. Andrei D. Mihalca, participated in a scientific meeting hosted by Foundation Conservation Carpathia in Brașov, dedicated to the role of veterinary research in wildlife conservation.

Prof. Mihalca delivered two presentations, "Hidden Biodiversity" and "The Importance of Veterinary Research in Species Conservation", highlighting how parasitology, wildlife disease surveillance and modern diagnostic approaches can contribute directly to conservation practice.

The discussions focused on translating research results into practical tools for wildlife management, improving knowledge on causes of morbidity and mortality, and identifying opportunities for closer collaboration between veterinary researchers and conservation professionals. Particular attention was given to the value of field-based investigations, advanced molecular methods and systematic wildlife health monitoring.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to explore future joint activities with the Conservation Carpathia wildlife team, including applied research, field investigations and veterinary capacity building for conservation programmes in the Southern Carpathians.
