TroCCAP Workshop – Parasitic Diseases of Companion Animals in Kenya

On 7–8 June 2019, the Tropical Council for Companion Animal Parasites (TroCCAP), in association with the Kenya Small and Companion Animal Veterinary Association (KESCAVA), organized a workshop in Nairobi on recent advances in parasitic diseases of companion animals.
Prof. Andrei Daniel Mihalca contributed through both lectures and practical training sessions, including:
-
Blood examination for parasites (smear techniques, buffy coat, Knott's test)
-
Extra-intestinal helminths of dogs and cats: lungworms and filaria
-
Fecal examination methods (direct smears, flotation, sedimentation, larvoscopic techniques)
-
Case study discussions with participants
The workshop was hosted at the Small Animal Clinic Seminar Room, University of Nairobi, and combined theoretical lectures with extensive laboratory practice.
