TroCCAP Workshop – Parasitic Diseases of Companion Animals in Botswana

On 20–21 April 2023, the Tropical Council for Companion Animal Parasites (TroCCAP), together with the Botswana Veterinary Association, organized a workshop in Gaborone on recent advances in parasitic diseases of companion animals.

Prof. Andrei Daniel Mihalca contributed through both lectures and practical sessions, including:

  • TroCCAP: mission and achievements

  • Intestinal and extra-intestinal helminths of dogs and cats

  • A practical workshop on blood examination for parasites

  • A practical workshop on fecal examination techniques

  • Case study discussions with local veterinarians and researchers

The event combined lectures with hands-on laboratory work at the Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources Parasitology Laboratory, strengthening local capacity in companion animal parasitology.
