Science, Wildlife and Photography at LYNX Festival 2026

In June 2026, our Director, Prof. Andrei D. Mihalca, participated as an invited guest at the fourth edition of LYNX Festival in Brașov, Romania. LYNX is Romania's only festival dedicated exclusively to nature documentary film and wildlife photography, bringing together filmmakers, photographers, conservationists and researchers for a week of screenings, exhibitions, masterclasses and public discussions.

Prof. Mihalca joined the festival's public discussions, contributing a scientific perspective on wildlife, conservation and the complex relationships between humans, animals and natural ecosystems. The 2026 edition featured internationally recognised filmmakers and nature photographers and provided a platform for connecting science, visual storytelling and conservation with a broad public audience.

The festival also brought a photography distinction: his image "Rain in Kalahari, Botswana" received Second Prize in the Wildlife category at the 17th Milvus International Nature Photography Contest. The 2026 competition attracted 2,610 photographs submitted by 211 photographers from 36 countries, with the winning images presented during the LYNX Festival in Brașov.
