In February 2025, Prof. Andrei Daniel Mihalca was invited by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to serve as an expert trainer at the Regional Training Course on the Capture, Sorting, Detection and Differentiation of the Most Important Vectors for Vector-Borne Diseases in Hanoi, Vietnam.

During this two-week course, he delivered both theoretical lectures and hands-on practical sessions on ticks of veterinary and public health importance. His contributions included:

  • Lectures on tick collection, morphological identification, and anti-tick vaccines.

  • Field demonstrations on capturing ticks with flagging, COâ‚‚ traps, and direct collection from animals.

  • Laboratory sessions on morphological identification of tick genera and species, supported by a comprehensive teaching collection.

  • Filming of training videos to support long-term teaching and capacity building.

The training brought together participants from across Asia, strengthening regional capacity in the identification and monitoring of vectors of veterinary and zoonotic diseases.
