National Workshop series with Boehringer-Ingelheim Romania: Clinical Parasitology in Companion Animals

In early 2025, Parasitology Consultancy Group organized a series of four workshops under the theme "New Approaches and Concepts in Clinical Parasitology of Companion Animals", each hosted in the main veterinary centers of Romania: Cluj-Napoca, Bucharest, Timișoara, and Iași.
Each session combined theory with practical demonstrations, addressing key parasitological challenges faced by small animal practitioners. The program covered:
-
Vector-borne nematodes in dogs and cats in Romania
-
Pulmonary nematodes in cats
-
Integrated control of ectoparasites in companion animals
-
Coprological diagnosis: from methods to interpretation
-
Laboratory diagnosis of filarial infections
-
Identification of tick species

Lectures and hands-on components were delivered by Prof. Andrei D. Mihalca, with contributions from our young colleague Ioana B. Mitrea , ensuring both academic rigor and practical applicability.

The workshops provided veterinarians with updated knowledge and tools to improve diagnostic accuracy, parasite management, and evidence-based clinical decision-making. By covering four major academic and professional centers, this series contributed to strengthening parasitology education and clinical practice nationwide.
