Lecturer at the XI Parasitology Summer Course – Basilicata, Italy

05/07/2025

In June–July 2025, Prof. Andrei Daniel Mihalca joined the faculty of the 11th Parasitology Summer Course (ParSCo), a one-week residency program on Parasites, Arthropod Vectors and Transmitted Pathogens in the Mediterranean Area, organized by the University of Bari.

The course is internationally recognized for its strong practical component, with around 60% of the schedule dedicated to laboratory and field activities. Participants from around the world engaged in ectoparasite collection, tick and sand fly identification, helminth diagnostics, and clinical parasitology of vector-borne diseases.

Prof. Mihalca contributed lectures and practical sessions on tick identification, cytological diagnosis of vector-borne diseases, and conservation parasitology, adding a perspective that connects taxonomy and biodiversity with applied veterinary medicine.

By participating in ParSCo, we remain actively involved in training the next generation of parasitologists and supporting international knowledge exchange.
