Leadership and Governance at ECZM | Belgrade, Serbia

From 25 to 27 September 2026, our Director, Prof. Andrei D. Mihalca, took part in the annual governance meetings of the European College of Zoological Medicine (ECZM) in Belgrade, Serbia.

Following the completion of his term as ECZM President in 2025, Prof. Mihalca continues to contribute to the College as Past President and member of the Executive Committee, supporting strategic planning, governance and the long-term development of the organisation.

The Belgrade meetings included an extended strategic planning session, followed by the ECZM Executive Committee meeting, with discussions focused on the future direction of the College, residency pathways, specialty development, education, governance and alignment with European veterinary-specialist standards.

Prof. Mihalca also participated in the annual meeting of the Wildlife Population Health specialty, his own ECZM specialty, and continues to serve as a member of the ECZM Scientific Committee, contributing to the College's scientific activities and research-related initiatives.

The programme concluded with the ECZM Annual General Meeting, bringing together Diplomates from the College's different zoological medicine specialties to review activities, approve key decisions and define priorities for the coming year.

Continued involvement in ECZM leadership reflects a long-term commitment to postgraduate veterinary specialisation, wildlife health, scientific excellence and the development of European standards in zoological medicine.
