Invited to the Nomadis series: Untamed Africa at Cinema Arta

On 29 October, Andrei Mihalca, our founder & director, took part in the event Africa Neîmblânzită. Din experiențele unui cercetător, organized by Nomadis at Cinema Arta in Cluj-Napoca, in conversation with Ioana Cosman and Vasile Cipcigan.

The event created a public space for discussing Africa beyond familiar clichés, through the perspective of long-term field experience, scientific work, travel, and direct encounters with wildlife. It was an opportunity to bring together research, photography, and personal experience in a format accessible to a broader audience.

At the center of the discussion were the realities of fieldwork in Africa: the intensity of wildlife encounters, the complexity of local landscapes and communities, and the way scientific observation is shaped by uncertainty, risk, and curiosity. Such events are valuable because they allow research to be presented not only through data, but also through lived experience and visual storytelling.
