Invited lecture: “Theatre of Prevention – Dirofilariosis in 4 Acts”

Prof. Dr. Andrei D. Mihalca was invited to lecture at the event "Theatre of Prevention – Dirofilariosis in 4 Acts", held on 20 April 2026 at Teatrul Elisabeta, Bucharest.
The event brought together veterinary practitioners and specialists in a format built around four thematic "acts", combining scientific presentations, interdisciplinary discussion, and theatre. The programme focused on dirofilariosis, one of the most underestimated vector-borne parasitic diseases in companion animals, with emphasis on its epidemiological context, clinical relevance, cardiovascular impact, diagnosis, and prevention.
Prof. Dr. Mihalca contributed to the parasitology section, addressing the current epidemiological situation, underestimated risks, common misconceptions, and clinical cases related to dirofilariosis.
The event also included lectures and discussions on the cardiological implications of dirofilariosis, practical prevention protocols, and the role of veterinarians in early diagnosis and disease control. The scientific programme was followed by a theatre performance offered by Teatrul Elisabeta.
The event was dedicated to veterinarians and was accredited by the Romanian College of Veterinarians. It was organized by DONA Vet Logistică, KRKA, and the Romanian College of Veterinarians.
