Advanced Veterinary Research and Diagnostics | IDSA 60th Anniversary Symposium

On 17 September 2026, our Director, Prof. Andrei D. Mihalca, participated as an invited plenary speaker at the 8th Anniversary Symposium of the Institute for Diagnosis and Animal Health (IDSA) in Bucharest, marking 60 years since the establishment of the Institute (1966–2026).

The anniversary symposium was organised around the overarching theme "IDSA and the One Health Challenges in the Veterinary Field", bringing together researchers, veterinary authorities, laboratory diagnosticians, disease-control specialists and representatives of the veterinary and public-health sectors. Prof. Mihalca contributed to the research workshop "Advanced Approaches in Veterinary Diagnosis and Research", with an invited plenary presentation followed by scientific discussion with the participants.

The session highlighted the importance of connecting modern diagnostic approaches with field-based research, epidemiology and One Health thinking, and provided a platform for exchanging perspectives between research institutions, veterinary diagnostic laboratories and professionals involved in animal-health surveillance and disease control.

The 2026 symposium also marked an important milestone for IDSA, celebrating six decades of activity in veterinary diagnostics, surveillance and animal health in Romania.
